The Blackmores Sydney Running Festival will return to its spectacular course taking over 33,000 entrants across the Sydney Harbour Bridge – traffic free, on Sunday 17 September 2017.
The Blackmores Bridge Run, traditionally 9km, has now been extended to a certified and accurate 10km course which will finish at the Sydney Opera House for the first time in five years.
The Blackmores Sydney Running Festival consists of four events:
- Blackmores Family Fun Run/Walk (approx 3.5k)
- Blackmores Bridge Run (10k)
- Blackmores Half Marathon (21k)
- Blackmores Sydney Marathon (42.2k)
Minister for Tourism and Major Events, Adam Marshall said “This major event draws thousands of running enthusiasts and visitors to Sydney to participate in one of the most scenic courses in the world.”
“Last year the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival delivered over 11,400 overseas and domestic overnight visitors and contributed $8.4 million in overnight expenditure to our state’s economy.
“The NSW Government will continue to build a top class major events calendar for Sydney, and promote our amazing city and state right around the world.”
The Blackmores Sydney Marathon and Blackmores Half Marathon courses are both faster and flatter than previous years and will again finish at the iconic Sydney Opera House.
The ever-popular Blackmores Family Fun Run finish line will return to the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
Post-event, all entrants, their friends and family are invited to celebrate in the Blackmores Recovery Village to enjoy the spectacular views of the Sydney Harbour and Royal Botanical Gardens.
The event entry price includes travel to and from the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival by public transport. The start and finish of the event are both close to a range of public transport options.
Guinness World Records, the global authority on record breaking achievement, have partnered with the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival for a second year, providing costumed marathon runners with the chance to be certified with a Guinness World Records title as they cross the finish line at one of the city’s most iconic locations, the Sydney Opera House.
The Blackmores Sydney Running Festival is encouraging runners to support a charity when they sign up to run. With the event’s ‘run for free’ initiative runners can have their entry fee rebated when they raise $500 for their chosen charity. The Blackmores Sydney Running Festival is delighted to announce a partnership with the leading Australian online fundraising solution, Grassrootz. By choosing Grassrootz, the Festival expects runners to have the best possible fundraising experience, and that more money will be raised to support Australian charities including Breast Cancer Network Australia and The Sydney Children’s Hospital.
The Blackmores Sydney Marathon is officially recognised as a world leader in marathons having being awarded a Gold Label by the International Association of Athletics Foundations and is the only marathon in Australia to be broadcast live nationally. Thanks to a strategic partnership with Destination New South Wales the three and half hour live broadcast is shown nationally on Network Ten in Australia and internationally on Eurosport Asia and free to air television channels in both Japan and China.
Be sure to register for the run that’s fun for everyone - The Blackmores Sydney Running Festival taking place on Sunday 17 September 2017.
